Flight Instruments Department
Altimeter Repair & Overhaul
Altimeters are among the instruments our Flight Instruments department tests, repairs, and overhauls — supported across commercial and military airframes, with fresh-tag overhaul or test on every quoted unit.
The altimeter is a primary flight instrument: it reads static pressure from the aircraft's pitot-static system and presents it as altitude. Because it is a required instrument on the airframes we support, an unserviceable altimeter grounds the aircraft until it is repaired, overhauled, or exchanged.
Air Shunt Instruments has been repairing and overhauling cockpit instrumentation as an FAA-certificated repair station — certificate YD2R315L — from our facility in Chatsworth, California. Altimeters are handled by our Flight Instruments department alongside gyros and air speed indicators, the other core pitot-static and attitude instruments.

Repair, Overhaul, or Exchange
Every unit we quote fresh tag is freshly overhauled or tested with a fresh tag. Where an exchange makes more sense than a repair, we can often supply from inventory instead — we hold over 10 million spare parts on hand, and in-stock aircraft parts are ready for immediate delivery. All products are subject to prior sale.
Airframes We Support
DC-8, MD-80, B-727 and B-767 on the commercial side; A-4, A-6, A-7, F-4, F-5, F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 fighters; CH-3, CH-46, CH-47 and CH-53 rotary wing; C-123, C-130 and C-160 transports; and P-3, E-2 and E-3 maritime patrol and airborne early warning aircraft. Common Questions
Do you overhaul altimeters as well as repair them?
Yes. Our Flight Instruments department tests, repairs, and overhauls the instruments located within the aircraft cockpit, altimeters included. Units we quote fresh tag are freshly overhauled or tested with a fresh tag.
Which altimeter part numbers can you support?
Capability is confirmed by part number. Air Shunt maintains over 100,000 repair capabilities and supports most major instrument manufacturers, so the fastest answer is to send us the part number through the quote form or call 818-700-1616 and we will confirm it directly.
Can I buy a serviceable altimeter outright instead of sending mine in?
Often, yes. We carry over 10 million spare parts on hand and in-stock aircraft parts are ready for immediate delivery. All products are subject to prior sale, so call to verify availability on a specific part number. See aircraft spare parts for terms.
